Passive Implantable Sensors

The application of acoustic metamaterials in passive implantable sensors is a promising approach, in comparison to state-of-the-art based on electromagnetic coupling interrogation.
The detection of an acoustic resonance shift upon ultrasonic interrogation allows to quantify the strain level in the implant, as a safe and non-invasive solution for the patient.
